What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit. They're widely used to make websites work more efficiently, remember your preferences, and provide information to website owners about how their site is being used.

Cookies contain a small amount of information — typically a unique identifier and the name of the site that set it. They are not programs and cannot install software on your device.

Why We Use Cookies

We use cookies for four purposes. Essential cookies are necessary for the Service to function and are always active. Other categories are optional and ask for your consent.

🌍
Pakistan does not currently have cookie-specific legislation. As a matter of good practice — and for the benefit of visitors from regions that do have such rules, such as the UK's Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and the EU's ePrivacy Directive — we ask for consent before setting non-essential cookies.
PurposeCan you opt out?
Essential operation — keeping the site secure and functionalNo — disabling these breaks the Service
Functional preferences — remembering your settingsYes — in the consent manager below
Analytics & performance — understanding site usage, if/when activeYes — in the consent manager below
Advertising — enabling ads once approved and active (e.g. Google AdSense)Yes — in the consent manager below
✅
We never use cookies to sell your data to advertisers or track you across unrelated third-party websites beyond what's disclosed in this policy.

Local Storage & Similar Technologies

In addition to cookies, VitalPulse uses browser local storage to store data directly on your device. Unlike cookies, this data isn't sent to our servers with each request.

KeyWhat it storesWhy
vp_cookie_prefsYour cookie consent choicesRemembers preferences without a server round-trip
vp_mood_historyMood tracker entriesKept locally for privacy — never sent to our servers
vp_weight_logWeight tracker entriesKept locally for privacy — never sent to our servers
🔒
Your personal tool data stays on your device. Mood logs, weight logs, and quiz results are stored exclusively in your browser's local storage and are never transmitted to our servers.

Clearing Local Storage

You can clear local storage through your browser's site data settings. Doing so will permanently delete any journal, mood, or tracker data saved in VitalPulse's interactive tools — this data isn't recoverable from our servers, since we never had a copy.

Do Not Track

đŸšĢ

Our current position on Do Not Track (DNT)

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" signal. Because there's no universally accepted standard for how sites should respond to it, VitalPulse doesn't currently alter its practices based on DNT signals. We'll revisit this if an industry standard emerges. In the meantime, please use the consent manager in Section 6.

🌍

International Transfers

Cookies set by third-party providers — particularly Google, if/when active — may result in data being processed outside Pakistan, including in the United States. Where this occurs, providers typically rely on recognized safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or, where applicable, the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

See our Privacy Policy — Section 12 for more on international data transfers.

Children

VitalPulse is not directed at children under 16. We don't knowingly use cookies to collect personal data from children under 16. If you believe a child has used the Service and cookies have been set, contact us at privacy@myvitalpulse.org and we'll take appropriate steps.

Changes to This Policy

We'll review and update this Cookie Policy as the cookies we use change — for example, once analytics or advertising tools go live. When we make changes, we update the "Last updated" date and version number above, and note significant changes here.
